How to Know if Your Business is Delivering Good Customer Service

September 26, 2020

As a small business, delivering quality customer service is an absolute must. Small businesses can live or die just because of the customer service you offer. Sometimes it can be a little tricky to tell how you’re doing though. Here are some indicators that can let you know if your business is delivering good customer service.

You Have Return Customers

Customers that come back again and again is an indicator that your customer service is good. There are likely a plethora of other businesses in your industry, probably even some within a reasonable distance of yours. Bad customer service is bad for business. It tends to send customers looking for someone else to do business with. If you aren’t losing customers but are, in fact, retaining them and have a few regulars, you can probably trust that your service is at least good.

Customers Leave Reviews

Customers tend to leave reviews when the service is extremely good or extremely bad. If a customer leaves you a review, you can be certain that you made an impression. Take the feedback presented in the reviews under advisement, since it gives you an idea of what customers want to see from you and what they would like you to keep doing. If you’re especially concerned about your customer service performance, pay special attention to those reviews that mention different aspects of customer service.

Your Customers Refer You

If you’re getting referrals to your business from your existing customers, that’s another indicator that you’re probably doing something right in the customer service department. People don’t usually make a habit of sending their friends to businesses they don’t genuinely like. They certainly don’t send friends to businesses if they think that business is going to mistreat them. If your customers are referring friends to you, it’s because they like what you offer and they like you as a business well enough to send someone your way. Getting a customer to refer you to their friends is one of the higher compliments a customer can give a business.

If you aren’t sure if your business is delivering good customer service, there are some things you can look at to get an idea of how you’re doing. Returning, regular customers, positive reviews, and customer referrals are all good signs that suggest that your customer service is satisfactory at the very least. If you still aren’t sure, just ask your customers how you’re doing. They’ll probably be willing to let you know.
